Fifth Year Students

 

The revision to the practical components will include execution of the Imaginative Composition or Still Life component and the Craft or Design component as coursework in schools over an extended period of 10 weeks.

The Life Sketching and History and Appreciation of Art examinations will continue to be held at the same time of year as they are currently.

During this project 5th year students piloted the Revision for the Leaving Certificate Art. Students based their project on the theme memories. Students worked into a Sketchbook the first page was set assigned for students mind mapping of concepts around the theme memories. Students brought in objects that they felt best reflected their concept of memories.  

Students then progressed onto the development sheets where they explored a variety of drawing media and compositions for a still life piece based on the theme memories. From here students developed onto making their final still life piece.

The next two development sections were preparation for the student’s craft piece (lino print). Here students explored mark making, colour studies, compositions, and texture. Students then developed a colour plan and began to make their final lino print.
